2025 GMARA Bitter Pill: A Surprising Victory

26 July 2025

The results were in. Ben had headed home for a shower and a nap, exhausted after a hard day of race pace. “There’s just no way we’re up in the rankings here,” I thought to myself as they called out the second place team - the same crew that had been flying past us on bikes all day, looking fresh as daisies while we ground our way through the Vermont heat.

Then they called our names for first place.

Ben and I had just won the two-person mens division at GMARA’s Bitter Pill 2025, tied on points but taking the victory by 10 minutes on time. For Ben’s first official race with Chaos Required, he definitely got the full race pace experience he’d been asking for.

2025 Endless Mountains AR: Les Verd Monts

21 June 2025

We were melting in 100-degree heat, our feet were falling apart, and Ryan's legendary snoring had earned him a reputation that carried across valleys - you could literally hear that man from a mile and a half away. But when we woke up from our barn nap, the Vermont family had cooked us burritos and invited us to dinner at their kitchen table. As we sat there, barely coherent after days in the wilderness, sharing stories with people who'd never heard of adventure racing, I understood exactly what race director Brent meant by "livable moments" with the people of Vermont. Seven days of racing. 46 maps that tried to break us in creative ways. One sketchy ferry crossing in 40+ mph winds that has become a core adventure racing memory. And proof that sometimes the best adventures happen when you're too tired to realize how epic they actually are.

Chaos Crusade AR

16 May 2025

This year, with the Endless Mountains multi-day race on the horizon, we decided to level up - a full 24-hour event. I kept the course details secret from everyone, which is part of the fun, and we kicked off at 8 PM on Friday and wrapped up 24 hours later. Instead of our usual home-based start, I had everyone driven 45 minutes away to a surprise starting point — and from there, it was a multi-discipline journey back to Reading. The course revolved around the Merrimack River and included running, paddling, biking, and orienteering. Here’s how it went down, stage by stage.

Sea to Summit 2024 Rematch

27 July 2024

After DNF-ing the rece the prior year, I was back with a vengence. Ryan and JP raced this year as well, which was awesome particularly given that JP said he would never do it again. We all succeeded, and conquored this beast of a 1.5 mile swim, 100 mile bike, and 6 mile summit to Mt. Washington.
